WEEK EIGHT
This week, students meet with Prescott College professor Mark Reigner to learn about reading a landscape through its flora and fauna. In Goethe's words, "Seek nothing beyond the phenomena; they are themselves the theory." Above, in the foreground, you can see students' progressions in clay as well as Mark's examples of patterns in nature.

Above: Students check out the compostable toilet at the Black Canyon Trailhead facilities as designed by instructor Tom Hahn.

Above: Students, Tom Hahn and the construction site manager examine the insides of a mutli-million dollar rammed earth home.

Above: At the Optima Camelview Village, students are given a tour of the progressive apartment complex, which features landscaped balconies and shade strategies relevant to the desert climate.
